The mark consists of a circular shape with the border being edged with a rope detail. The words "HILTON HEAD ISLAND" fill the upper arch of the circle and the word "UNIVERSITY" fills the bottom arch of the circle. The two sets of words are separated by two (2) martini glasses. The inner circle of the logo contains the numbers "1663" which depicts the date that the island of "Hilton Head" was discovered. In the middle of the inner circle is a crest which contains icons that depict life on the island. These icons are the golf ball on a tee, the sun and ocean waves, beer mug and palmetto tree. On either side of the crest is a series of stars.
